Car Camping

Now lets talk about car camping, this is the same as camping for one night but many people do this on rode trips to save money and see more sights.  I personally love the idea of car camping because it allows for the most comfort both while sleeping and eating because you are not limited to what you can carry on your back like backpacking.  You can load up your car with ice and coolers and comfortable sleeping pads and blankets and just drive to a camp site anywhere of your choosing.  Most camp sites are on average $15 a night while a hotel room per night averages at $130, now that is some good savings.  You also get to see more of the great outdoors when car camping and can map out a root that stops at all the good spots along a rout leaving enough time to explore at each stop.   Do not be afraid to over pack your car with supplies because want to both comfortable and full all the time.  There are so many options for delicious meal to eat along the way, click here for one website that covers multiple meals.

Everyone Should Go Camping

Before we get into backpacking and everything that goes on with that I think it would be wise to talking just about camping.  Camping is simple and can be done for one night in a variety of locations, I personally enjoy camping in places away from the noise of the city and cars so I feel really secluded but for some people that only is a 30 minute drive.  When camping it is important to take note of the forecast of the time you plan to be out and bring the appropriate supplies, if its going to be in the 30s at night and you don't bring the appropriate clothes and sleeping supplies then it is going to be a miserable night.  Next decide weather you want to cook meals at the campsite or bring packaged food or eat before.  If you are just going for one night I like to get to the site early enough to set up and cook dinner then hang out around the fire, then wake up with the sun and cook a nice breakfast.  Find some friends and try it for a night, search for campsites near you and visit the website to see if they have primitive camping, sometimes it gets confusing with RV parks and such, and then go out on a nice Friday or Saturday night.  Camping is a great way to bond and I would encourage anyone and everyone to try it at least once.  You can visit go HERE to look at the REI website on some basic supplies that you should have in order to have a successful camping experience.

A little bit about me and my passion for the outdoors

Hello my name is Logan and I am here to talk a little about backpacking and other outdoor things in order to share my love for the outdoors with as many people as possible.  I grew up going camping with my family on the occasional weekend and loved everything about it, the late night and early morning fires, cooking simple meals, exploring around camp, and being close with my family.  I have since then grown and gone on multiple week long backpacking trips and other camping adventures.  I am excited for the opportunity that LSC-CyFair has given me to open up and start this blog.  I look forward to continuing the adventure with all of you.
